Hi there, I am Lucas
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Several years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't on the horizon for us. As with many international assignments, it started as a job offer and soon grew into something far more significant.
The first months were demanding—learning new systems, adjusting to new routines, facing new expectations. Everyday chores seemed more tangled than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock and uncertainty were part of the learning curve, much getting done by trial and error. Gradually, a rhythm took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built HarvestFieldBay
Most online guidance sits at either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, real-life view from a family.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice rooted in actual life in Portugal.
What This Site Is About (And What It Isn’t)
This site is about:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn’t:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A standard travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Lucas
